(18/30) Year Seventeen: GONE

When my mom passed,
I was already
a veteran of grieving;
any tears I had left in me
had long turned to stone.

At her funeral, folks
asked me and my sisters
over and over were we
going to be okay;
my lips said yes,
my heart knew I was a liar.
