(10/30) Insomnia: Act IV
The prompt for day 10 over at NaPoWriMo: write a poem of simultaneity in which multiple things are happening at once.
Moonlight crawls
up the wall;
settling of the house,
a macabre soundtrack.
Incessant whirling of
a refrigerator motor;
buzz saw to the brain.
The thunderous beating of my heart
burst through muscle and bone
like Ripley’s Nemesis.
Eyeballs flirt with
every shadow movement;
sight now a whore.
Skin, the temperature of an
August night in DC;
I feel myself sticking to the bed,
perspiration has become glue.
The ceiling looks down at me;
I swear it is laughing.
